Jacobus Swiegers was born in Somerset West in 1990. His family moved to Ashton, Ceres and Sutherland before returning to Somerset West to finish high school. At school he attended fine arts and sculpturing classes with Karel van Biljon. He graduated from Stellenbosch University with a masters in engineering in 2014.

For the past 2 years he has been working at a studio in Durbanville.

His current artistic practice is human-centred sculptures focussing on the modest and pure expression of female emotion. Swiegers’ subject matter is drawn from his surrounds, encompassing his natural space, and human and fictional companions. The proportion and fineness of the work is an insight into the artists true appreciation of female beauty. The use of white with dispersed colors draws the focus around his refined sculptures. His work seams to distill the form and finesse of the fictional, in an honest inclination.
