After my young subject of only 7 years old tasted Mr Lemon for the first time in his life, he was asked to take a second bite out of the fruit’s wedge. Although he now has a fresh yet existing memory of the lemon’s taste, he could only partially mask his reaction. The sourness overwhelms him still and manifests in a haplessly endearing display of facial contortions we can all so readily identify with.
It is not the Lemon, it is our experience, sensory observation of and engagement with the Lemon and all that the lemon will ever represent which truly gives it its taste. So honey, Lemons don’t get much sweeter than this….
